Diving from Cabo de Palos

The Mediterranean sea and the Cabo de Palos area of Spain offers some fantastic dives and is home to the famous Islas Hormigas Marine park which is one of the best areas to scuba dive in Spain. It is a well established breeding ground for the typical local fish such as Groupers, Barracudas, Jacks and Moray Eels. Many dive schools are located in Cabo de Palos Naranjito and Planeta Azul both have a good reputation.

Snorkelling in the Mar Menor

If you want to go snorkelling in warm shallow water why not book a kayak safari or motor boat trip with Aqua Adicta. We can take you out to explore the Mar Menor, islands and wildlife; these trips are suitable for children as young as 5 years. This type of trip is great if you have never snorkelled before.

There are some rocky coves around the headland at Cabo de Palos which offer some great snorkelling when the water of the mediterranean is calm and flat.

Hiking in the Calblanque

The Calblanque Natural Park is the most wonderful place to go walking. It has great views over the surrounding countryside and beautiful beaches for a swim at the end of a hot walk! There are also great walks at Bolnuevo near Mazarrón and also Lo Pagán on the Mar Menor.

See our blog for photos and descriptions of a number of walks around the area.

Cycling around the Mar Menor

Due to the very flat landscape around the Mar Menor it is a very popular spot for cycling whether it be road biking or heading off on dirt tracks. For those who want more of a challenge the Calblanque Natural Park offers some great trails for mountain bikers.

If you wish to hire bikes during your stay and you are located in or near La Manga Club try Biking La Manga who have a range of good quality mountain and road bikes for hire and also offer bike repair. You can also get direct access to the Calblanque Natural Park from their shop.

You can also have bikes delivered to you accommodation. Border Bike Hire provide this service; please email them to book in advance. You will need to hire the bikes for several days to get free delivery.
